After attending Boston’s Berklee College of Music, Donny McCaslin joined and toured for several years, with his former professor Gary Burton’s quintet. He moved to New York in 1991, joining the group Steps Ahead, while also performing with larger ensembles such as the Ken Schaphorst’s Big Band and the Maria Schneider Orchestra. In 2005 he joined trumpeter Dave Douglas’ quintet. Perpetual Motion (2011) represents Donny’s first foray into the world of funk.
