“Aerial” is representative of the respect and love I have for an array of musical genres and styles. It features a variety of tunes whose influences range from contemporary to straight-ahead acoustic jazz, from classical music to rock and R&B, with swing, straight-8s, Latin grooves, ballads and waltzes being the important grooves and rhythmic elements underpinning the program.
The recording is a journey through eleven colourful compositions. The creative, modern, fresh and subtle qualities heard on the album are achieved thanks to the contributions of all four members of the group, all wonderful players and composers in their own right, and the narrative connecting the pieces. This narrative is founded on my travels (especially to Peru) and my love of Nature. The high level of communication and interaction that the band shares allows for energetic musical performances that realize a polished and organic balance.
Musicians: Fraser Hollins (double bass), Joel Miller (saxophone), Jeff Johnston (piano) and Martin Auguste (drums).
