Atlanta native Rufus Reid is recognized as one of today’s greatest double bassists. His recordings and collaborations involve a list of musicians that read as a ‘who’s who’ of jazz.
He has toured, played and recorded with the Masters of jazz: Gene Ammons, Kenny Dorham, Eddie Harris, Sonny Stitt, Don Byas, Philly Joe Jones, Thad Jones, Mel Lewis, Dexter Gordon, Bill Evans, Stan Getz, Dizzy Gillespie, Harold Land, J.J. Johnson and Art Farmer.
Today, he primarily collaborates with Lee Konitz, Jim McNeely, Nancy Wilson, Roni Ben-Hur, Bob Mintzer, George Cables, Billy Hart, Bill Mays, Ed Soph, Marvin Stamm, Bobby Hutcherson, and Michele Rosewoman.
He equally pursues his role as band leader of the The Rufus Reid Quintet and, of course, his nonet “Linear Surroundings”.
Musicians: Rufus Reid (contrebasse), Steve Allee (piano), Duduka Da Fonseca (batterie)
